When you let your baby feed themselves...

Mealtime becomes a balancing act.

You’re holding the bowl, but you look away for just one second:

😯 Bowls get flipped
😧 Food flies everywhere
😵‍💫 Parents end up cleaning the mess
😵 Meals become stressful

Then you switch to a suction plate or suction bowl...

But here' is the catch:

😐 You’re left accepting just one style
😞 The suction weakens over time
😓 Grip strength varies with the table surface
😩 The baby figures out the trick to flip it

Our Story

Every evening after work, my wife and I looked forward to one simple thing: sitting down together for dinner with our two-year-old daughter.

As she grew older, she no longer wanted us to feed her like a baby. She wanted to grab the food herself, hold the spoon herself, and explore everything around her. We were happy to see her becoming more independent — but mealtime also slowly became stressful.

She would suddenly push the bowl, grab food with a hand, or flip the bowl over when we least expected it. Food ended up everywhere. Rice on the floor. Soup on the chair. Vegetables across the table.

We also tried the popular suction bowls and plates on the market, hoping they would solve the problem. But when our daughter became upset, playful, or determined enough, even those could still be pulled off or flipped over.

The peaceful family dinner we had been waiting for all day would suddenly turn into cleanup and frustration.

Over time, my wife developed a habit without even realizing it. Every meal, whenever our daughter tried to eat by herself, my wife would instinctively place one hand on the bowl to keep it from tipping over.

One hand holding the bowl.
Constantly watching.
Constantly reacting.
Constantly worrying about the bowl being flipped over again.

And somehow, it became hard to simply relax and enjoy the moment together as a family.

One evening, while watching my wife silently holding the bowl again during dinner, I suddenly thought:

Why doesn’t something simple exist to securely hold the bowl in place and free parents’ hands?

I searched for a solution but could not find one.

So I decided to create it myself.

That was how the Self-Feeding Bowl Clamp began.

After we started using it, mealtime became calmer. Our daughter could practice eating independently, my wife no longer needed to keep her hand on the bowl, and we could finally stop worrying about the bowl being flipped over again.

For the first time in a long while, dinner felt like family time again!
